About Omicron Delta Epsilon

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is one of the world's largest academic honor societies. The objectives of ODE are recognition of scholastic attainment and the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics; the establishment of closer ties between students and faculty in economics within colleges and universities, and among colleges and universities; the publication of its official journal, The American Economist ; and sponsoring of panels at professional meetings as well as the Irving Fisher and Frank W. Taussig competitions.

Benefits of Becoming a Member
  • Opportunity to publish undergraduate and graduate student papers in The American Economist Journal

  • ODE sponsored meetings at the annual conventions of regional, national and international economic associations

  • Eligibility to compete for the Frank Taussig and Irving Fisher Awards (both cash prizes and publication of essays) More information about awards may be found here.

    • The Frank W. Taussig Award consists of a cash prize of $1000 to the winner, $200​ to the winner's chapter, and submissions of the paper to The American Economist.

  • Eligibility to compete for the Outstanding Student Leader Award

Qualifications for Membership at Sacramento State
  • At least 12 units of economics courses at Sacramento State must have been completed

  • The student must have a 3.0 GPA overall

  • The student must have a 3.0 GPA in economics courses

  • Submit a one-time membership fee of $40 with your application.

Applications for Spring 2018 are due by March 16, 2018.
