Scholarship Opportunities

The following scholarships are given to student by the Department of Economics at California State University, Sacramento. In order to apply for one of the following scholarships, visit the Division of Student Affairs Scholarship Homepage.

Fall Semester Scholarships
The John G. Ranlett Memorial Scholarship in Economics

Award: $2000

​

This scholarship is open to Economic majors who meet the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and seniors who express financial need

  • Minimum overall CSUS GPA of 3.3, as well as a GPA of 3.5 or higher in Economic coursework

  • Full-time student

  • Has completed at least 15 units at Sacramento State, with 9 upper division units in Economics

This scholarship requires the following documentation:

  • An unofficial copy of your Sacramento State transcript

  • At least one letter of recommendation from a professor in any discipline, an Economics Professor, a high school teacher or someone who can attest to your academic ability

  • A statement, not exceeding one single spaced age, indicating your interest in your major and your plans for the future

Spring Semester Scholarships
The Robert L. Curry, Jr. and Chi-Ming Dana Curry Scholarship

Award: $1000

​

This scholarship is open to students who major or minor in Economics and meet the following qualifications:

  • Undergraduate juniors and seniors, and Graduate students

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and is in good academic standing

  • Undergraduate student has completed at least 9 upper division units in Economics

  • Graduate student has completed at least 6 graduate-level units in Economics

  • Full-time student

The Rod Swanson Scholarship in Economics

Award: $2000

​

This scholarship is open to Economics majors who meet the following qualifications:

  • A full-time, in-state, and undergraduate student at Sacramento State during a spring semester who demonstrates financial need

  • Has completed at least 15 units at Sacramento State with 9 upper division units in Economics

  • Has a minimum Sacramento State GPA of 3.3 or higher, as well as a GPA of 3.5 or higher in upper division economics courses, and is in good academic standing

This scholarship requires the following documentation:

  • An unofficial copy of your Sacramento State transcript

  • At least one letter of recommendation from a professor in any discipline, an Economics Professor, a high school teacher or someone who can attest to your academic ability

  • A statement, not exceeding one single spaced page, indicating your interest in your major and your plans for the future
